On July 21, 1996 Wayne Gretzky signed with the New York Rangers, these last three seasons would be the final stop in his legendary career. One would’ve thought that the 35 year old wouldn’t have much left in the tank after 17 legendary seasons in the NHL, they would be wrong. In his first season with the Rangers The Great One helped his new team to the Eastern Conference Finals and led the Rangers in scoring in the playoffs with 10 goals and 10 assists. The following season he would lead the league in assists for the 16th time in his career (tying atop the league with Jaromir Jagr) while in his final season he would break Gordie Howe’s goal scoring record with his 1,072nd goal.
